Lilly Boecher Named To Lead Soroptimist Club in Stockbridge
STOCKBRIDGE The 64 year old Lilly Boecher, once hunted by the Gestapo in Berlin, has been tapped to form the first Soroptimist Club in the area. She and her husband Karl Boecher, who fled Nazi Germany, moved to Stockbridge in 1956 after living in Millbrook New York. Boecher, a former jewelry designer for actors like Marlene Dietrich, now runs a Bavarian inspired shop with imports from Berlin and Bavaria. She plans to connect Pittsfield women by telephone to organize local Soroptimist activity while promoting service and international goodwill.
