Wilson Urges Elm St. Area Fire Station Plan

Charles W. Wilson candidate for ry Counel from Ward 4 today supported a satellite fire station for the Elm Street area. He urged dusting off a five year old plan to reduce response times noting a 25 mph city speed limit and congestion raise run times to six minutes or more. He cited safety standards from the National Board of Fire Underwriters and local officials. He argued the growing south quadrant demands a station near Chapman Corner and Williams Stone Holmes Road, and that West Housatonic Street would cost under 30 cents per thousand in taxes over 50 years while staffing would add about 100 dollars per year. He favored a Valn site for a station, proposing construction before other proposed sites.
