Two Assessors View On Osceola Area Values
Two Pitsfield assessors Emil Metropole and Ruth Sisman told The Eagle that a proposed LO unit public housing project off Osceola Street would likely lower values on Oswald Avenue but not on other nearby streets. They cited site isolation and generally low local housing values as reasons. They noted Oswald would bear the impact depending on project quality and resident profile, while surrounding streets such as Essex Gale and Trymouth would largely escape value shifts. The Planning Board has not ruled the project would hurt values, though opponents argue it would. The NAACP housing committee Urban Coalition and other groups supported the rezoning.
