Cambridge kids smash lab release 3000 hamsters
Six Cambridge children damaged a research lab by breaking cages and releasing about 3,000 Syrian hamsters used in cancer and other disease studies. Dr. Freddie Homburger warned losses and delays could reach up to 1 million dollars as breeding lines were disrupted and many hamsters escaped or were disposed. Police reported the animals were given as pets, dumped in the Charles River, or released in a nearby field.
