Pheasant stocking to match last year despite higher farm losses
James M. Shepard of the state Division of Fisheries and Game says about 55,000 male pheasants will be released for the season opening on October 20, with mortality higher at Wilbraham and Ayer farms. The DFG and University of Massachusetts unit are examining the causes, while Berkshire and western Massachusetts sites, including Peru, will receive birds as planned.
