Camp Fire Girls Donate Book Funds To Berkshire Athenaeum

Eight Ma-Kah-Wee-Camp Fire Girls gave the Berkshire Athenaeum children's department profits from their annual candy sale to buy a new children's book during National Children's Book Week. Leader Mrs Frank Ofsted and librarian Mrs Philip C Ahern received a poster, a box of candy, and a Camp Fire bookmark as thanks. The group chose two books, Sister of the Bride by Beverly Cleary for older readers and The Case of the Hungry Stranger by Crosby Bonsall for younger siblings, each with a gift book plate. The girls—Kathlessa McErlain, Kathleen Ofsted, Sharon Lester, Debbie Stroup, Amelia Aulisie, Nancy Killeen, Annmarie Sanginavanni, Beverly Rustic—emphasize reading and community service in their program.
