Walkout of 400 Expected at GE Today
About 400 unionized workers at Pittsfield General Electric plant were expected to walk out this afternoon. The action, part of a six walkout series started September 15, targets maintenance and production units across the Pittsfield GE complex. Union official Melikan urged this to end the protests and harassment by Local 53 as around 3,500 members had participated in prior walkouts.

Driver Hurt Seriously in 2-Car Crash
A 21 year old Pittsfield woman Patricia R Morton of 194 Eleanor Road was reported on the danger list at St Luke's Hospital after a two car crash on West Housatonic Street near Pittsfield Plaza. Harold E Dunham of 47 Harris Street skidded on an icy patch and crossed into the wrong lane. Both drivers were hospitalized. Dunham's condition listed as fair. The crash marked the first serious winter accident since snow and high winds hit the city yesterday.
