Cable TV Regulation Bill Slated for Top Priority
Dermot P. Shea of the Massachusetts Consumers Council said a bill to regulate cable television will be a top priority in the 1970 legislature. The council seeks state and local oversight, with the state ensuring service and rates and local communities licensing, subject to state standards. Industry spokesmen argue cable is a local service, not a public utility, and protest profits and service accountability concerns.
