Northwest and Northeast announce merger plans
Northwest Airlines, the most profitable U S carrier in 1968, seeks to merge with Northeast Airlines. Under the tentative deal Northeast shareholders would receive one Northwest share for every five Northeast shares. The plan awaits Civil Aeronautics Board and both companies’ approvals.
