Costliest Week in Viet Nam War for U S Forces

AP reports the first week of November produced the highest U S casualties so far in Vietnam with 76 killed and 237 wounded. Total U S deaths in action reached 933. 4,801 wounded and 92 missing, while 20 held by Viet Cong. Vietnamese deaths reached 144. Air action continued with strikes near Saigon and the Chu Lai area as Marines moved up the coast under Soviet surveillance.

Pittsfield officials said mail from the New York area will be almost a full day late arriving in the Berkshires due to last night s extensive power outage. The 24 hour post office operated normally with battery powered lights for sorting and sending. some delays are expected in mail from the eastern end of the state.

Moment of Truth Nears on GE Walkouts

SUE Local 255 members at General Electric plants in Pittsfield near a crucial stage in a series of walkouts started mid September to protest rejected grievances.
