Space Official Warns Russia Plans Moon to Planets Flight
Washington space official Dr Charles S Sheldon II of the National Aeronautics and Space Council says the Soviet Union is likely to follow manned lunar landings with cosmonaut flights to the planets. He notes the U S aims to be first on the moon but Russia could beat them there and both nations will travel to the moon in the 1970s. He adds Saturn V readiness could determine when the United States can match weight lifting capabilities.
