Contracts for Future Construction Reflect Anti-Inflationary Trend
New York April contracts for future construction show a modest recovery from March declines as anti inflationary measures appear to bind. Total April contracts reach 5.8 billion with a 21 percent year over year rise, yet the Dodge Index signals only modest improvement and a softening trend in housing and municipal projects. Industrial and commercial building drive nonresidential gains, while education and religious categories lag due to financing and credit constraints.
