Taxpayers Group and Mayor Clash Over Library Funds
Pittsfield Taxpayers Association accuses Mayor Butler of political spin over library funding. Mayor counters that a state grant may still redirect $100,000 from a 1967-68 federal budget, with a possible additional $160,000 from the state Board of Library Commissioners. The dispute centers on true source and allocation of federal and state aid for the $2.12 million Berkshire Athenaeum project.
