Jones Strikers Talk Strategy At Dalton Meeting
About 200 of 279 members of UE Local 212 Jones division plant in Dalton gathered at the Dalton American Legion to hear strike procedure and strategy. Pickets remained at plant entrances. Federal and state conciliators will meet with company and union negotiators at 10 a.m. Wednesday to resolve the dispute. Local 242 began striking a week earlier after failed negotiations on incentives.

Settlement Reached in 25000 Tort Suit Involving McSorely and Wilcox
Superior Court papers show a settlement reached Monday in the 25000 tort suit brought by Francis J. McSorely and Evelyn R. Wilcox of Hancock against Antonio J. Giardina and Costanzo J. Lupo of Waltham for injuries from a Route 7 crash in Lanesboro on Sept 5 1962. Settlement amount undisclosed, plaintiffs win on all counts.

Claims of the Decrease by 98
Unemployment compensation claims from Central and Southern Berkshire residents fell 98 last week. Edward J. Barry says 1,073 claims were filed, down from 1,171 two weeks earlier, with 23 job openings filled by his staff. He notes last year’s week had 1,56) claims.
