Merger plans reshape Berkshire Medical Center future
Berkshire Medical Center executives and planners describe a new concept of community medicine evolving from the 1967 merger. They envision a citywide health system with open heart surgery potential, centralized outpatient care, 24 hour stay units, preventive programs, and closer ties with public health agencies. Architects Westermann & Miller prepared initial recommendations as the center moves toward 1970s construction and a major fund drive.
