Berkshire Community College will admit about 350 freshmen but anticipates 800 plus applications and will run an alternate admissions program for overflow. Rent Subsidy Advanced In LBJ Housing Plan

The House Banking Committee approved a revised six billion dollar housing program including rent subsidies for the needy. The vote was 25 to 7 with Republican opposition. The panel kept the four year extension of slum clearance and public housing, but narrowed the subsidy target, rejected new towns construction, and dropped a veteran mortgage insurance proposal. The bill now moves to the House Rules Committee to set floor consideration conditions.
