Baptist Leader Urges Start Now on Social Ills
In Seattle Baptist leaders urged immediate action on global social ills at the 62nd annual American Baptists Convention opening. Dr Culbert G. Rutenber pressed “now” for urgency, saying delays could push impact to the 1980s or 90s and estimating the 1969 meeting cost at about $1.5 million. The session also eyed a black president candidate and potential biennial conventions amid reformist calls.
