Seven Cited For Fraud By Mail

The Post Office Department reported seven mail fraud convictions in March across four actions. Land Lists Inc in Phoenix sold water-submerged Great Salt Lake lots. Gambler Ranch sold Mojave Desert land in Beverly Hills at inflated prices. Three defendants were fined and placed on probation. One Cedar Rapids salesman falsified appraisals and collected 10000 in commissions, jailed. Cloverdale land sale promoters in Springfield, previously convicted last year in Heber Springs, were fined and put on probation. NARERB and the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers warned on land schemes. A proposed postal bill would let the Post Office drop mail for firms with misleading ads, backed by Sen. Williams and Rep. Udall.
