Malcolm X Flags March as Possible Negro March on Washington
Malcolm X, leader of a Black nationalist group, denounced the civil rights debate as a con game in the Senate gallery. He flew from New York on a reconnaissance mission to judge filibuster tactics and consider demonstrations. He warned of another march that would be less orderly if civil rights groups are not controlling actions. He said the racial bill would not solve the problem, arguing education is needed to foster goodwill and predicting civil war if enforced. He was accompanied by five associates who obtained Senate gallery passes.
