South Lures Pittsfield Couple to Sarasota Florida
Former Pittsfield residents August and Millie Kiligas moved to Kensington Park in Sarasota after two years of researching Florida. Gus Kiligas, once a 50-year Eagle paper foreman, and Millie joined a growing Pittsfield expatriate community, drawn by sunny winters and low taxes. Their home costs $14 500 with 1 546 square feet and a $48 annual recreation fee. Florida’s 60 percent assessment with a $5 000 homestead exemption cuts taxes to about $19.20 yearly.
