FTC Order On Cigarette Danger Hit
Washington AP reports the tobacco industry questioning the FTC authority to require health warnings on cigarette packs and ads. FTC Chair Dix defends the move, while Sen. Neuberger argues the agency already holds power and may need enforcement authority. Industry lawyer Austern calls the rules ambiguous and impractical.
