History in Handrails and Violins Through Time
A reflective piece on tangible links to history through plaques instruments and venues. The author recalls encountering signposts from Suez to Vincennes and Buonaparte, notes famous violins tied to Piatti and Francescatti, and recounts a Melville link via The Bell Tower. He argues history shines when one can participate and touches on anachronisms and trifling relics that spark fascination.
