Three U.S. fliers reported alive after shot down
In Berlin reports say three American airmen Capt. David J. Holland Capt. Melvin J. Kessler and 1st Lt. Harold W. Welch survived a Soviet shot down of a B recon bomber 30 miles inside East Germany. A nurse in Gar delegen East Germany said one was brought to hospital alive and unharmed. The United States denies a Soviet spying charge and seeks the crew and wreckage.

Motel Owner Killed In Crash At Lanesboro
A three car collision on South Main Street in Lanesboro killed motel owner George A. Jocher Sr. 52, reported dead on arrival at Pittsfield General Hospital. His wife Winifred Harnden 58, was listed in critical condition with skull, chest, and leg injuries. Dr Frank Harnden 78, his husband, suffered facial and mouth cuts and was in good condition. The Harndens of Hancock run a Berkshire Life Insurance medical department retirement post. An 18 year old Pittsfield resident, William Mason Jr., and six teen passengers escaped injury. Four Webster Mass youths were arrested for murder after a $20 robbery at a Thompson Conn filling station. Owner Thurman Sharples 57 was found near death with hammer blows to the head and died en route to Hartford Hospital. By 3 a.m. police had detained Leo J. Vallee Jr 18 James Party 20 Edward F Klys 17 and James Grzemski 17 near Webster.

Space Funds Restored for Boston Telectronics Center
The House Space Committee voted 19 to 10 to restore a 1964 65 10 million construction authorization for a Boston space electronics research center.
