Precast Panels Cut School Construction Costs in Smithtown
Great Hollow Junior High School on Long Island uses two story high precast load bearing panels for exterior walls, first in New York and New England. The 107000 square foot, 20 acre facility costs about 1.95 million dollars, with panels up to 24 feet high and 12 inches thick, delivering rapid erection and reduced on site labor. Architects were Frederic P. Wiedersum Associates. Eastern Schokcrete Corp. produced the panels from five molds.
