Lee selects lowest bid for highway dump truck

Lee South Berkshire Bureau reports the town won’t award the contract, choosing Lee-B & P Sales and Service for 7,295 for an International dump truck after reviewing four bids. Ford's Garage previously won but snowplow damage and new safety rules prompted a re bidding before the special town meeting. Two planning board items were reviewed by Finance Committee. One rezoning proposal for Pleasant Street’s 200 foot strip and a second to reduce minimum AR lot sizes with water and sewer available were considered.

Finance Board Supports Revaluation Plan for Town Assessments

The Finance Committee approved a town meeting article to spend 26 000 to fund a revaluation of taxable properties. Chairman Richard P. Davis, while backing the plan, opposed using available funds rather than a direct appropriation. Assessor chairman William B. Salinetti said the 26 000 is based on firm estimates, with about 2 000 units to be reassessed, and that revaluation could lift town value by 25 to 30 percent.
