Canada Aims to Restore Indian Lands and Rights
Ottawa moves to end 350 years of discrimination by repealing the Indian Act and transferring supremacy to provinces where Indians would gain ownership of 6 million acres. The plan seeks equal services, ending wards status, with $30 million set aside for five years for community development. Some leaders react cautiously while awaiting timetables. In a separate note, Texas reports 31 728 personalized license plates issued in 1968 at $10 each.
