Nuclear Pacemaker Tested in Dog 1969
A hound named Brunhilde becomes the first recipient of a nuclear powered heart pacemaker at Brookhaven. The device, powered by plutonium 238, is designed to run at least 10 years and may replace battery driven pacemakers if safety tests remain positive. Prosser of the AEC outlined animal results and future trials at Newark Beth Israel in 1971.
