Transformer dispute at Taconic High centers on maker
Richard Rivenberg of Western Mass Electric says the 750 KV unit at Taconic High could be GE or other makes, while GE employee Joseph Poulin contends a rival transformer was installed. Two Candidates to Question Tax Rate in City Race
Mayoral contenders George A. Purnell Jr. and Rema Del Gallo announced plans to challenge the Buller administration's $1 rise in the 49.50 tax rate. Purnell said a written statement will be issued early next week, while Del Gallo, former mayor in 1966 and 1967, indicated he would discuss tax policy and other issues in the campaign but offered no comment today. Del Gallo has yet to launch a formal campaign. The tax rate increase is viewed as a political asset for Mayor Butler's bid for re-election.
