District Court: Michaud guilty on multiple OUI charges
Officer Edward Sherman testified Gilbert A. Michaud of Hartford was found guilty in District Court Saturday of operating under the influence operating to endanger and drunkenness on South Street after 2 Saturday morning. Judge Frank W. Cimini fined $25 on the first two counts and $13 on the third. Michaud's wife Rita was guilty of drunkenness with a condition to pay Officer Ralph Pisani $5 for a ripped shirt.

Early Childhood Education Course Offered Here to Teachers
A state sponsored five week course in early childhood education will be offered to teachers and laymen starting Aug. 18 in Room 110 at Pittsfield High School. The 10 classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 10 pm with a $22 fee. Registrations due Aug. 18 by mail to the Massachusetts Department of Education.

Police Briefs Describe Road Incident and Break-ins
Kenneth F. Funk of Great Barrington was forced off West Housatonic Street by another vehicle, and his tanker trailer struck a utility pole around 2:30 Saturday morning. Also reported were two broken plate glass windows at Value Mart on Columbus Avenue and at John Greer’s residence on Linden Street, plus a stolen bathing suit from a clothesline on 239 Fenn Street belonging to the family’s daughter.
