Prince Charles installed as Prince of Wales amid unrest

In Caernarvon Castle Wales Prince Charles was formally invested as Prince of Wales in a ceremony watched worldwide. Security was heavy after an explosion near the royal train and threats from Welsh nationalists as crowds swelled to about a quarter million and police secured the medieval town.

Bomb rocks royal train in Caernarvon investiture

In Caernarvon Wales an explosion torn up track near a royal train carrying Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles moments after they alighted for a visit to Caernarvon Castle. Two youths were arrested near the scene amid crowd unrest as U S Ambassador Walter Annenborgs and Patricia Nixon rode a preceding train.

Nixon Said To Misspend ABM Funds

The Nixon administration was accused of illegally spending 400 million from Sentinel funds on the Safeguard system. Sen Gaylord Nelson said the Pentagon used Sentinel money for Safeguard missiles and radar without congressional authorization or a promised restriction.
