Goldwater in New Hampshire Campaigning in slush and overshoes
Senator Barry Goldwater pressed his New Hampshire primary drive with a tight, hands-on campaign. He opened in Keene with a news conference radio interview and YMCA talk, then moved through Swanzey Jaffrey Peterboro Hillshire New London and Laconia in informal sessions. He mocked Rockefeller and warned against a one party system and fascism. He urged Panama Canal Zone reform and opposed federal aid to elementary schools while supporting church-related higher education. He finished at a Manchester luncheon, stating the danger of a centrally controlled economy. He bought overshoes for 3 dollars at a Goffstown shop.
