Last Radon Plant Closes as Radium Cancer Therapy Ends
Memorial Hospital in New York dismantled its last private radon plant used for cancer treatment. Since 1917 radium linked therapies served about 10,000 patients before safer radioisotopes replaced radium, ending an era in medicine.
