Hospital Budget Sparks Debate Over Town Aid
Adams Taxpayers Association director Stavas ki questions the $40,000 town appropriation to Plunkett Memorial Hospital arguing Medicare and employer insurance cover most bills. He suggests higher rates could replace the aid. Finance members note rates could have reduced the need, with Plunkett raising private room rates to 46.50 and semiprivate to 42. Adams rates mirror Pittsfield. Committee also weighs poll-listing costs and census duplication to curb waste while deferring recommendations on growing town accounts and consultant funding for zoning work.
