Plane lands on field after engine trouble in Florida
A pilot and his family escaped unharmed when their small plane diverted to a farm field near North Adams. Dr. Donald Romeo 35 of Norwood was lightly cut. his wife and two children were unhurt. Engine trouble after takeoff from Harriman Airport forced the landing about 5 p.m. near the Mohawk Trail while the family had spent the weekend skiing on Brodie Mountain.

McCann Students Build 1929 Great Lakes Trainer Plane
McCann Regional Vocational Technical High School students in North Adams are assembling a Great Lakes Trainer two seater biplane from 1929 plans provided by Peter Esposito of Sprague Electric. When finished, Esposito will fly it in national aeronautic events in Dallas. The craft weighs 1102 pounds and can cruise at 115 mph. the build requires 322 draftsmen drawings for hundreds of parts.
