A Boston area woman who allegedly escaped from Framingham Women's Reformatory 19 years ago has received parole. The unnamed applicant may also receive full pardon from Gov. Endicott Peabody and the Executive Council. Authorities note she lived openly, paid Social Security, and contends she may be innocent of the 1943 stabbing for which she was convicted. New England Contractors urged to plan for defense policy shift
BOSTON AP A Defense Department spokesman told New England businessmen to prepare for a shift in defense policies and procurement as the United States moves toward a stabilized budget. Barker said cuts in Soviet forces could trigger changes in the program while conventional items stay in demand. Contractors should seek domestic and international markets for defense products like lightweight radios and fuel cells, with disarmament as a policy objective.
