AAA Seeks Truck Tax To Fund Massachusetts Highways
Massachusetts AAA argues a highway use tax on trucks nine tons and up would yield about 10 million dollars yearly, funding the Highway Fund without raising gas tax. The plan taxes weight and miles driven, with exemptions for buses, government and farm vehicles, while out-of-state haulers would also pay. Opponents from Massachusetts Motor Truck Association challenge the claim.
