Long urges enforce of baseball ultimatum to Finley
Sen Edward V Long says American League must crack down on Kansas City Athletics owner Charles O Finley for defying the league by not keeping the team in Kansas City. He warns failure to enforce could trigger antitrust action and says baseball should be regulated like any other business. Cronin and Giles are to testify. Finley may be heard if he attends.

Carney Wins Split Decision Seeks Giardello Title Shot
New England Middleweight champion Larry Carney of Lowell won a 10 round split decision over Joe DeNucci at Boston Garden. Judges favored Carney 98-96 and 98-93 while the referee gave it to DeNucci 98-96. Carney hoped for a title shot at world champion Joey Giardello, who was reportedly ready to meet the winner on March 16. Giardello’s camp may meet promoter plans in Boston for a non title bout contingent on the Carney-Giardello outcome.
