College authorities weigh response to Friday NFL telecasts
NCAA officials plan a legal fight to keep Friday night pro games off college schedules for the fall. ASA Bushnell says the move violates the 1961 anti trust statute protecting colleges and high schools. ABC remains firm, agreeing to sponsor five Friday NFL games Sept. 25 to Oct. 22, while Rozelle says schedules and contracts are not yet set. The NFL had a prior TV deal with CBS totaling 28.2 million, with five games excluded from that package.
