Cheshire Bill Exemptions Die in Senate Vote 33 1
A bill to exempt Cheshire from the state ban on alcohol in school buildings failed in the Senate by a 33 to 1 margin. Sen Edmund R. St John Jr., the sole dissenter, hails from Adams and had a brother who supported the measure. The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department had requested the exemption to aid fundraising at social events like the firemen’s ball.
