West Germany expands arsenal with advanced armored forces
West Germany’s army, renowned for military innovation, is building a diverse weapons suite including tanks, tank destroyers, and sealed armored vehicles for contaminated battlefields. In collaboration with the U S and Britain they pursue MBT 70 and MACA 75 studies, plus Cormorant air missiles with France, while plans for new submarines and missile frigates advance. The force emphasizes stronger conventional weapons to deter foes until allied nuclear guarantees, with Leopard tanks leading the charge and the Marten armor variant entering production as a combat vehicle.
