Land Regulations Often Restrictive HUD Official Says

New York HUD official Samuel C. Jackson said suburban land-use rules often become restrictive tools to screen out outsiders from neighboring cities. He urged a major reexamination of zoning codes taxes and building rules noting lower taxes on undeveloped land raise holding costs and limit supply. He tied this to the critical shortage of low and moderate income housing in suburbs and urged better inclusion as population growth continues.
