Washington AP reports a telegraphic poll of about 1,000 large manufacturers by the National Industrial Conference Board found that a Federal Reserve rate hike will not greatly reduce plant spending. Senate testimony included caution from Seymour J. Harris who called the move a foolhardy policy and warned of doubts during an economic advance. Wealthy Beverly Hills Declines Poverty Funds
Beverly Hills California AP says the city rich with movie stars declined an $82 875 poverty funds allocation. School Superintendent Kenneth L Peters said only eight of 5000 pupils could be classed as needy and the funds were not justified. He noted the 1964 census showed 460 families with income under $2 000 among 30 817 residents. He added it would not be in the spirit of the program to accept the money.
