Adams Cheshire Education Association and regional School Committee announce a two step raise for starting pay. Minimum begins at 6500 on June 1 and rises to 6700 on September 1. Average increases projected at 200 in January and 500 in September for some teachers.
Cheshire schools prepare a federally funded tutoring program for fourth graders at Cheshire Renfrew and Commercial Street schools managed by Armenia Dequire Director of Elementary Education. It is expected to receive $23000 and run during the school year focusing on students needing help with their work. Superintendent Rolland G. Duval cites a dip in achievement at the fourth grade level and says the program could begin in January after preliminary approval.
LANESBORO The Lions Club launches a Thankstaking dinner series to raise funds for the needy. Attendees pay for a full turkey dinner but receive a baked bean meal, with net proceeds going to support those in need. The program can be hosted by any civic group or church or even private homes, with results publicly reported.
Adams Cheshire Regional School Committee awarded contracts Thursday for milk bread fuel and transportation. The panel noted bid lownes may protect future bidding and discussed lack of qualified bidders for short time routes. Edward De gere won six bus routes at $302 per day with others on single routes. Sears Petroleum Bowe 031 Co and Hoosac Valley won fuel bids. Drei korn's Bakery got the bread contract Crystal Creamery the milk contract.
Hinsdale council race lists two women among five candidates for the two seats on the Board of Selectmen. The caucus to nominate candidates is set for December 19. For the one year remaining of Louis Carmel's term the contenders are Ruth Landry, David Pelkey, and Charles DeAngelus. For the three year term are Howard Terry and Ruth Service. Other announced roles include Tax Collector Stanley Rice, Assessor Victor Dann, Treasurer Mrs. Howard Terry and Richard Germer, Tree Warden Charles Rip Treen. Senior Citizens plan a Christmas party tomorrow at 1 30 at the Youth Center with a gift exchange.

A petition for probate of Cesare Cardinalis last will is filed by Rose Marchetto seeking executorship with return date December 23 1767.
