Boston School Accepts Beth El to End Crowded Classes
The Boston School Committee voted 4-1 to accept Beth El School, claiming the move ends busing and double sessions in three crowded schools. Chairman Louise Day Hicks praised the no cost one year offer, while skeptic Arthur Gartland called it a disgrace. The plan aims to relieve overcrowding at Endicott Gibson and Greenwood in Roxbury and North Dorchester, with a September 9 opening target and 12 rooms for 290 pupils.
