Doyle Backs Pay Raises for City Workers
Public Works Commissioner Gerald S. Doyle urged approval of pay raises for nearly all city employees outside the School Department, arguing better pay boosts efficiency and reduces need for contractors. He noted his department has completed three of four large projects and has cleaned up half of 12 1963 1984 approved items, while pursuing additional drainage and bridge work with no extra manpower. The plan includes time and a half overtime for supervisory staff and dry dams for flood control pending federal review.
