Williamstown stage shines with fast moving magic

Review lauds director Keith Fowler and cast for a vivid production despite minor flaws. Janet Fowler as Rosalie Pea impresses in a dramatic bedroom scene, while Janet Sarno and James Noble charm with expressive performances. Paul Barstow earns laughs as the quirky corpse in the closet. Scenic and costume design by Hendrickson and Welmers enhances the brisk, colorfully staged show. Hollywood segment notes Suzanna Leigh joining Boeing Boeing with Jerry Lewis and Tony Curtis.

Music Review of Boston Symphony Chamber Players in Tan glewood Series

The Boston Symphony Chamber Players offered a strong second Tan glewood appearance with nine musicians performing Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and Elliott Carter in a chamber music program. Highlights included the Beethoven Serenade for flute violin and viola with refined playing, the superb Mozart Quintet in E flat major with vivid piano color from Claude Frank, and Brahms Piano Quartets Op 60 where Frank’s vigor balanced with chamber nuance. Carter’s Quintet for Five Winds from 1948 impressed with angular, witty passages and easy ensemble among wind players. The audience applauded vociferously as Carter joined on stage.
