Neglect Destroyed Bulfinch Prize In Pittsfield
The Pittsfield Bulfinch Church collapsed in 1939 due to neglect after a history of relocations and uses. Bulfinch’s Boston works include the Statehouse west portico and University Hall at Harvard, with national recognition for his classical revival style. The article notes major rebuilds at the Boston Statehouse using cast iron columns and commemorates Bulfinch as a pivotal early American architect born in Boston in 1763.
