Planning Board May Revise Trailer Park Proposal
Great Barrington Planning Board may revise its zoning amendment to allow mobile home parks after consultant Theodore Bacon warned the 4039 trailer limit may be illegal and the 4000 square foot lot size too small. He urged defining trailer size and storage rules, widening access roads to 40 feet, and stating park eligibility where water and sewer exist.

Site Work Starts For Gas Station In Great Barrington
Great Barrington plans for an Esso gas station at Stockbridge Road and Commonwealth Avenue moved forward with town restrictions. The selectmen require approval for lighting and signage, limit unregistered cars and overnight parking, and bar a proposed Commonwealth driveway. Trailers may be allowed temporarily up to 60 days per year, with lot frontages of 80 feet and yard setbacks. An acre must be park space for active or passive recreation, open to noncommercial use. Opposition is mounting as a planning board hearing nears, but officials say the hearing will let townspeople weigh in. Chairman George B. Osgood notes mobile homes could be permitted in trailer parks for zoning reasons.
