Ground Broken For New Ser vend Headquarters on Route 128
Ground breaking ceremonies mark the start of construction for a 27,000 square foot Ser vend dining and dietary services headquarters on seven acres in Cabot, Massachusetts near Route 128. The steel framed red brick building will feature an aluminum glass lobby and an air conditioned executive area with facilities for demonstrations and sales meetings. Completion is planned for late fall 1963 with provision for expansion to 50,000 square feet.

The layout features two shampoo booths, privacy shutters, and a large back shelf area for beauty supplies, using much of the old shop’s equipment.

July Building Permits Totals and Details
Building permits issued in July totaled 349115, similar to June, per the inspector. Nineteen single dwelling permits valued about 335000 were issued, including a large 85009 oil treatment plant permit for GE. In July 1962, permits reached 999323 with 28 single dwelling permits worth 460700 and 13 classroom additions at three city schools valued at 350000.
