BSR Faces Aug 16 Deadline For Real Estate Taxes
Berkshire Street Railway, now in receivership, must pay 4153 in 1963 real estate taxes by August 16 or the city will issue a tax title on its East Street land and buildings. Purchasers must clear the tax lien before a clear title. If unpaid for two years, the city can take title. The tax warrant was issued June 6 by the Board of Assessors. The federal IRS has seized the BSR property for unpaid income taxes. The SBA previously cleared local taxes when backing BSR operations.
